Films + Klein
Polka Galerie in Paris presents "FILMS + KLEIN," an exhibition dedicated to the cinematic work of William Klein. Known as a major photographer of the 20th century, Klein also explored filmmaking, creating over twenty short, medium, and feature-length films between 1958 and 2005. His approach to cinema, much like his photography, was radical, energetic, and direct, often challenging conventions and engaging with the real.
The exhibition highlights key films such as "Broadway by Light" (1958), "Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo ?" (1966), "Mr. Freedom" (1969), "Muhammad Ali the Greatest" (1974), and "In and Out of Fashion" (1998). The display also includes original film posters, photographs from his shoots, and painted contacts, drawing connections between his photographic and cinematic output. The exhibition aims to present Klein's work as a unified visual language, emphasizing his urgent gaze and energetic framing.
