Le Royaume des moustiques

Hangar Gallery in Brussels presents "Le Royaume des moustiques" (The Kingdom of Mosquitoes), a series of works by Sylvie Bonnot. Following its initial presentation at Paris Photo in November 2025, this exhibition showcases Bonnot's exploration of photographic transfiguration and her relationship with landscapes and the transformations of forests.

The works in "Le Royaume des moustiques" were created in the Amazonian region of French Guiana, where the artist engaged with local communities and their cosmogonies. Bonnot employs a distinctive "moulting" process, lifting the silver gelatin membrane from her prints to enhance the organic dimension of the images. The resulting crystallized creases and sensitive monochrome tones connect the viewer with the animal and plant kingdoms of this dynamic equatorial territory.
