Vein! Vain! Vane!

Galerie Nathalie Obadia presents VEIN! VAIN! VANE!, Romana Londi's first solo exhibition at the gallery's Paris location, featuring seven new paintings. The exhibition delves into the contemporary human body's condition, influenced by technology, information flow, and image circulation. Londi's work, originating from her Central Saint Martins education, investigates painting's language, imagery, and processes, aiming to renew the materiality and representation of the body as a dynamic entity.

The paintings introduce new tensions, depicting a body that is neither stable nor constrained, but stretched and dissolved by overwhelming forces. While the palette initially suggests soft tonalities reminiscent of American abstraction, layers of paint conceal an underlying violence that dislocates the body towards abstraction. The exhibition title, a pun on "vein," "vain," and "vane," explores the body's trajectory, vulnerability, and value in the 21st century, referencing themes of transition, excess, and the impact of modernity, algorithms, and the continuous flow of images.
