Le printemps est pour après-demain

Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil

The exhibition "Le printemps est pour après-demain" at Galerie La Patinoire Royale Bach in Brussels presents new works by Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil. The series "Hope it was worth it" (2020-) utilizes historic Aubusson tapestries from the 16th to 18th centuries. Auguste-Dormeuil covers parts of these tapestries with India ink and then overlays them with star maps corresponding to the dates of significant historical events that occurred during the tapestries' creation.

Another series, "A Golden Work" (2025-), intervenes on 19th-century copies of the newspaper Le Petit Parisien. By painting over sections with gold, the artist isolates images and text, exploring the relationship between the imaginary and the real. The exhibition also includes a display of research materials, such as books and illustrations, that inform Auguste-Dormeuil's practice.
