Pierre Gaignard

Galerie Eric Mouchet, Brussels presents LATENT_BREATH(), the fourth solo exhibition by French artist Pierre Gaignard. Gaignard's work explores the intersection of art, technology, and poetry, investigating material, language, and memory to question perception. His creative process is characterized by insatiable curiosity and a drive to deconstruct and reinvent, leading to an ever-expanding body of work.

The exhibition features pieces that blend artisanal gestures with digital tools. Gaignard utilizes artificial intelligence to deconstruct and recompose forms, revealing them through light, sound, or material. The exhibition title, LATENT_BREATH(), takes its punctuation from Python code, symbolizing a new creative cycle. Works like Griza:j Hypermat’ employ lithophany, a 19th-century technique of creating images visible through backlighting, reinterpreted here using 3D printing and AI-generated botanical models. Bestiaire Paramétrique presents 3D-printed and painted hybrid fauna, exploring the tension between the disappearance of living beings and the proliferation of their images.
