pour consolation
Christian Berst Art Brut presents "Pour Consolation" (For Consolation), an exhibition dedicated to Philippa Motte. Motte, a trainer and peer supporter in mental health and corporate care services, author, and artist, is honored through this exhibition conceived by Éric Waroquet, a systemic therapist and co-founder of Epsilon Melia. The exhibition was inspired by Waroquet's profound reaction to Motte's 2025 book, "Et c’est moi qu’on enferme !" (And it's me they're locking up!).
The works explore the concept of "consolation" not as superficial comfort, but as an active, structuring force. For Motte, drawing serves as a defense against chaos, a practice of pure presence, and a ritual. While her writing aims to articulate and transmit experiences, her drawings are described as non-explanatory, instead offering a form of healing. The artworks feature networks of lines emerging from deep dark backgrounds, with the black space representing a matrix from which life arises.
