The Guardians of the World

"The Guardians of the World" is an exhibition at Stems Gallery Brussels featuring the work of Pauline Guerrier. The exhibition explores the concept of protective deities and ancestral rituals through a series of large-scale embroidered panels and smaller watercolour works.

Guerrier's practice involves extensive travel and research into global traditions. For this exhibition, she has created nine embroidered panels on linen, a process that involved collaboration with embroiderers in Lucknow, India. These works, along with watercolour and graphite pieces on cotton paper, represent a visual mythology drawn from her observations of ceremonies and cultural practices worldwide, aiming to connect the real and the imagined realms.
