The Day May Break — Chapters One To Four
Polka Galerie in Paris presents Nick Brandt's "The Day May Break — Chapters One to Four," a four-part photographic series addressing the global ecological crisis and climate change. The project features portraits of humans and animals, often depicted together, who have been displaced or affected by environmental disasters such as droughts, floods, and rising sea levels.
Across the chapters, Brandt documents individuals and rescued animals in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Bolivia, Fiji, and Jordan. The work highlights the shared vulnerability of humans and animals in the Anthropocene, with artificial mist symbolizing the urgency of the climate crisis. The exhibition aims to serve as a warning about our collective fate and a call to action, with a portion of print sales supporting a project for rural revitalization.
