Là où les formes se répondent

The exhibition "Là où les formes se répondent" (Where forms respond to each other) at Lee-Bauwens Gallery in Brussels brings together works by Moon Pil Shim and Erwan Mahéo for the first time. Both artists explore the perception of space as a field of relationships, though their materials and gestures differ. Moon Pil Shim's plexiglass works engage with light, reflections, and luminosity to create shifting depths and an interplay between material and immaterial presence.

In contrast, Erwan Mahéo's practice utilizes a direct gesture, cutting and stitching black fabric with white thread to delineate forms that suggest volume and depth. His open structures unfold in space, with each element acting as a unit within a larger composition. The exhibition highlights a shared sensibility towards space, with Shim revealing it through light and Mahéo constructing it through expanding forms integrated with architecture, creating a dialogue between lightness and materiality, and presence and openness.
