Recent Works

Templon Paris Grenier Saint-Lazare presents "Recent Works," an exhibition by Martial Raysse, marking the artist's first solo show at the gallery and coinciding with Templon's 60th anniversary. The exhibition features nearly thirty recent works, including several monumental canvases, created over the past decade. These pieces explore themes of history painting and allegorical female figures, with notable works like "Le Grand Jury" (2022) and "La Peur" (2023), the latter drawing inspiration from the war in Ukraine and the artist's personal memories.

Raysse's "Recent Works" engage in a dialogue with Old Masters and artists such as Picasso, Fouquet, and Poussin. The exhibition showcases a series of faces and symbolic details, such as a black cat or a dagger, inviting multiple interpretations of contemporary tensions. The artist, a pioneer of French Pop Art known for his evolution beyond "formal aestheticism," continues to explore painting, neon, assemblage, and video, offering "luminous apocalypses" that reflect on humanity's current state.
