Arrière-train fantôme
Galerie Anne Barrault presents Arrière-train fantôme, a solo exhibition by artist and filmmaker Marie Losier, on view from September 5 to October 31, 2026. Losier’s multimedia practice—spanning film, drawing, sculpture, and textiles—is characterized by a distinct blend of joy and catastrophe. Using her camera like a punch tool, she actively "makes holes" in time, reality, and nightmares. Through film reels, drawings, and spiritualist record players, Losier’s work explores themes of childhood, memory, and the thin boundary between life and death.
At the heart of the exhibition is Losier’s profound belief in friendship and community, capturing her social circle as a "court of miracles" and a homemade mythology. Her friends, lovers, and chosen family are transformed into fairy-tale figures, sensual icons, and pharaoh-tramps, immortalized through pen and watercolor works such as Anouk and Oui! (2026). Ultimately, the exhibition functions as a mediumistic, fairground space where viewers are invited to spin through a carnival of unconventional obsessions, tender tattoos, and magical, reversible realities.
