PIGMENTS ET PRÉSENCE
PIGMENTS ET PRÉSENCE (Pigments and Presence) features the work of Lita Albuquerque, a pioneer of the American Land Art and Light and Space movements. The exhibition showcases her use of raw pigment powder in large-scale interventions, exploring the connections between humanity, nature, and the cosmos. This presentation includes a selection of drawings and paintings, some never exhibited before, spanning from the 1980s to the present day.
The works on display include Untitled drawings (2024) where pigment is pressed directly onto paper, echoing her land art methodology. The series 100 Breaths (1989) comprises large-scale lithographic monoprints highlighting her commitment to color. Large paintings made with gold resin, featuring her signature blue hue, radiate luminosity. Through the purity of her materials and the meditative quality of her practice, Albuquerque aims to activate an alchemical relationship between the viewer, body, light, and stars.
