Almine Rech Paris Turenne presents 'Kentucky Cols.', Larry Poons’ third solo exhibition with the gallery, running from March 21 to May 21, 2026. This exhibition marks the artist’s first in Paris in nearly forty years and features a series of new paintings that explore new directions in his work. The paintings, such as 'Ballroom Chassi', 'Pat Cloud', 'Clarence White', and 'How Many Hearts Have You Broken Today', utilize imposing chromatic fields, prioritizing the viewer's experience of color over representation.

Poons' artistic journey began with an early interest in music, which influenced his development of optical abstraction and his notable dot paintings, early examples of Op art. His work has been recognized for its significant role in color-field painting. The current exhibition showcases paintings derived from a process of applying thick, energetic paint to large canvas rolls, which are then cropped into independent compositions. This method emphasizes the direct essence of painting and the materiality of color, evoking comparisons to Van Gogh and Cézanne.
