The House on Utopia Parkway: Joseph Cornell’s Studio

Joseph Cornell

The House on Utopia Parkway: Joseph Cornell’s Studio Re-Created by Wes Anderson is an exhibition at Gagosian Castiglione, Paris, running from December 16, 2025, to March 14, 2026. Conceived by curator Jasper Sharp and filmmaker Wes Anderson, the exhibition recreates Joseph Cornell's New York studio in Paris. This presentation marks the first solo exhibition of Cornell's work in Paris in over three decades.

Joseph Cornell (1903–1972) created a unique body of work without formal art training. Though he never traveled outside the United States, Paris was a significant influence, appearing in his art through various media. His studio in Queens, New York, was filled with collected ephemera from his explorations, which he used as materials for his collages, assemblages, and shadow boxes. These works have influenced numerous artists across generations.
