(W)here was time

The exhibition (W)here was time at Galerie Dix9, Paris, presents sculptures, objects, and printed images by Josefina Nelimarkka. The works explore themes of air, particles, and atmosphere, using ephemeral materials and shifting spaces to reveal the fleeting nature of time and the sensitivity of the environment. The exhibition is curated by Azad Asifovich and Stefano Vendramin, with scientific collaborator Oona Doyle, and is presented as a carte blanche for La Musée.

The title, (W)here was time, is taken from a work by Nelimarkka, functioning as a poetic intervention that shifts the focus from time to climate and geography. The exhibition features glass sculptures, images, and an in-situ intervention where air becomes a sculptural material. Nelimarkka's practice often engages with breath, invisible phenomena, clouds, aerosols, and climate change. The use of glass reflects on the conditions of sculpture, creating works that are light, atmospheric, and uncertain, requiring slow attention as they appear and disappear with changes in light and perspective.
