Christian Berst Art Brut presents "le motif dans le miroir" (the motif in the mirror), an exhibition of works by Josef Hofer. Hofer, a resident of an Austrian institution for over 30 years, communicates through his drawings. His work explores a fundamental duality between the body and the psyche, with figures depicted attempting to break free within the confines of the frame.

Hofer's art is held in numerous museums and significant private collections, including those of Antoine de Galbert and Arnulf Rainer, who described him as "one of the greatest contemporary art brut artists." A substantial collection of his works was acquired by the Centre Pompidou in 2021, and the gallery became the owner of his estate in 2022.
