Recent Works

Pierre Marie Giraud Brussels presents a solo exhibition of recent works by Belgian artist Jos Devriendt. The exhibition features a selection of recent lamps, offering insight into Devriendt’s exploration of light, time, and functional sculpture. Devriendt, trained in ceramics and sculpture, creates hand-built ceramic pieces with simple, precise forms. His lamps and vessels utilize elementary volumes like domes, cylinders, and stems, serving as structures for light and color. Glazes are developed to echo natural cycles, such as changing skies and horizons.

The exhibition includes works from Devriendt’s Night & Day series, where mushroom-like silhouettes function as sculptures by day and transform into light objects when illuminated at night. These pieces highlight the interplay between ceramic form and internal glow, with light redrawing contours and casting shadows. The works on view also include recent vertical lamps and sculptural vessels, demonstrating Devriendt’s interest in how objects can hold multiple interpretations over time as sculpture, light sources, and markers of changing atmospheres.
