Point Of Incidence
Jitish Kallat returns to Paris with POINT OF INCIDENCE, a new body of works exploring humanity's relationship to the universe and its attempts to inhabit and shape it. The exhibition is structured around an Earth-Moon axis, featuring works that trace a passage from planetary materiality to celestial speculation, where human thought, law, and imagination intersect.
The exhibition includes "Moon Treaty," a sculptural work derived from the unratified United Nations Moon Treaty, questioning shared planetary responsibility. "Lunar Redux" translates a declassified Cold War proposal to detonate a nuclear device on the Moon into a field of visual instability. "Albedo (Point of Incidence)" uses layered paints to echo erosion and weathering, reflecting Earth's changing conditions. "Hexalemma (Earthling Chant)" combines imagery from research notes with a coded interstellar message, staging a planetary address from a divided world.
