La Couleur Du Temps

From January 8 to February 21, 2026, Galerie La Forest Divonne Brussels presents “La Couleur du temps” (The Color of Time), an exhibition of photographs by Jean-Bernard Métais. Métais, also a sculptor and winemaker, has developed a unique photographic practice since 1976, the year he took over his family's vineyard. He consistently photographs the bottom of his wine vats following the same protocol to capture the wine's evolution during its transformation.

In 1989, Métais began archiving these images under the title “Les Accouchements de l’être vin” (The Births of the Wine Being). This exhibition, part of the PhotoBrussels Festival, celebrates the 50th anniversary of this photographic endeavor by showcasing previously unseen prints, recent photographs, and historical works that are integral to this body of work.
