Épaves

The exhibition "épaves" (wrecks) at Stems Gallery Brussels features works by Jannick Deslauriers and Camille Charbonneau. The show explores themes of shipwreck, storm, and the sublime, presenting a fragmented labyrinth that evokes a post-apocalyptic Atlantis or a submerged church.

The artists' work delves into the historical imposition of coercive social structures and oppressive systems, represented by institutions like places of worship, hospitals, and monuments. The exhibition revisits these concepts, unearthing remnants of suffocating ideologies and presenting them as uncertain volumes and fragmented narratives, appearing and disappearing like half-forgotten memories.
