Hollow

Hollow is a group exhibition at Peter Gaugy, Brussels, featuring new and recent works by Iris Dittler, Ulrike Mohr, Céline Struger, and Hamid Yaraghchi. The exhibition combines painting, drawing, and sculpture to explore the sensation of external pressures leading to psychological "hollowing out." The artists engage with transformation as an elemental process in both the mind and body, as well as in materials like wood, fire, metal, and water, responding to contemporary forces.

The works presented are not intended as direct communication but rather as a "collapse into making" when agency is limited. Hamid Yaraghchi's paintings delve into reality's intensity, exploring shadows and fear to question perception. Ulrike Mohr's pieces, utilizing charcoal and carbonized objects, highlight traces of memory and material shaped through attentive creation, drawing attention to hollow spaces where forms emerge. Céline Struger's work reflects on the crystalline nature of inorganic matter, inspired by experiences in a marble quarry. Iris Dittler's practice bridges visual art and performance, making visible physical processes inscribed in the body.
