Idolâtries
The exhibition "Idolâtries" by Hervé Di Rosa is presented at Templon Brussels. This show follows a cycle initiated in Paris and highlights Di Rosa's forty-five-year career, which challenges disciplinary boundaries and merges popular culture with art history.
Di Rosa, a key figure in the French art movement Figuration Libre, creates works that blend the grotesque with the marvelous, comic strip aesthetics with Renaissance influences, and African sculpture with European art. In "Idolâtries," he reinterprets Brueghel's seasons, depicting snowy landscapes and fantastical architectures populated by vibrant figures. The exhibition includes ceramic sculptures from Cameroon and Portugal alongside large canvases, emphasizing a fluid relationship between image and object, and fine arts and popular arts.
