archipel is a project supporting emerging photographic talent in Belgium, initiated by Contretype in 2023. This fourth edition functions as a mentorship program, encompassing research, new work production, and the dialogue between artistic practices. The exhibition features six distinct proposals selected from an open call, each offering unique perspectives on contemporary photographic and image-making concerns. Artists Harold Delhaie, Sevdenur Doğan, Barbara Salomé Felgenhauer, Nanténé Traoré, Quinten Vermeulen, and Serena Vittorini explore photography through social, political, and sensory lenses, examining themes of intimacy, politics, domesticity, memory, territory, and the visible alongside its erasures.

Collectively, their projects form a sensitive and fragmented cartography of our relationship with the world, where the image serves as both a critical tool and a site of resistance or repair. In 2026, archipel expands into a network involving five institutional partners in photography and image-making: BIP (Liège), CRP (Douchy-les-Mines), Fabrique du Regard (Brussels), ILES asbl (Brussels), and Contretype. The exhibition takes place at CONTRETYPE, Brussels.
