Geometry of Color

Geneviève Claisse | Geometry of Color is presented at A&R Fleury, Paris, in a dual exhibition with Maison Longchamp. The show features previously unseen works by Claisse, a prominent figure in French geometric abstraction, known for her exploration of the subtle balance between form, color, and the pictorial plane.

Claisse developed a strict yet sensitive geometric oeuvre from the outset of her career, prioritizing visual equilibrium. Her work moves beyond narrative or demonstration, aiming instead for a visual experience that engages the viewer's perception. She forged her own path, diverging from the more restrictive foundations of Auguste Herbin's "Alphabet Plastique" to explore movement and multiple spaces within the painted surface, often using circles and triangles as primary forms transformed by color relationships.
