Almine Rech Shanghai presents Farah Atassi's third solo exhibition, "Resting Dancers," running from July 16 to July 23, 2022. The exhibition features paintings of dancers in repose, often on a stage setting with elements of abstract painting and theatrical decor. These works explore the intersection of painting, dance, and theater, with Atassi's compositions incorporating geometric grids and striped patterns that echo the dancers' costumes and the surrounding abstract elements.

The exhibition draws connections to the work of Swiss painter Verena Loewensberg, a member of the "Zurich concretes," whose abstract art aimed for a universal language and blurred the lines between art and life. Loewensberg, a former dancer, influenced Atassi's exploration of how abstraction can engage with decorative and theatrical dimensions, moving beyond pure pictorial specificity to incorporate broader art historical movements.
