Au coeur du silence
Galerie Lelong Matignon, Paris, presents "Au coeur du silence" (At the heart of silence), an exhibition of works by Etel Adnan. Adnan began drawing in California in 1959, initially on small scraps of paper with pastels and coloured pencils. Over a career spanning 60 years, she has explored various techniques including Indian ink, pencils, oil pastels, watercolours, and gouache on different paper types.
The exhibition features works on paper, including mountains, cosmic abstractions, still lifes, and collages, many of which have been relatively little shown. Two tapestries, based on the artist's "cartoons" prepared for weaving, are also included. This exhibition offers a chance to discover previously unexhibited works by the Lebanese-American artist, poet, and essayist, whose pictorial work gained international recognition following documenta13 in 2012.
