Still Blue
Erwin Wurm, an Austrian artist known for his work in sculpture and conceptual art, presents "Still Blue" at Mulier Mulier Gallery, Brussels. Wurm's practice often explores the absurdity of everyday life through distorted familiar objects, questioning consumerism, body image, and the human condition. His works span various media, including sculpture, performance, and photography, with a consistent focus on the human body and daily existence.
This exhibition features a selection of Wurm's recent works, combining freestanding sculptures with pieces on canvas. The show includes transformed everyday items such as clothing, buildings, and cars into art objects. These manifest as aluminum figures resembling empty outfits, miniature architectural bronzes, and painted "flat sculptures." The works explore themes of the absent human body, the transformation of mundane materials, and the inherent absurdity in human identity and form.
