Solo show
Emmanuel Beguinot presents a new body of work in his first solo exhibition at Galerie Derouillon, Etienne Marcel. The artist's practice is described as both introspective and cathartic, combining intuitive mixed media application on paper with a retrospective framing gesture. Frames are reworked, reflecting an imagination that stains and sublimes depicted scenes or portraits.
Violence is a central theme, explored through an attempt at truth. Flaws, accidents, and overflows are embraced, acknowledging the rough edges of intimacy and social interactions within a staged theater of the absurd. The reverse side of the stage gains a subversive dimension, indexed to grotesque laughter, conveying the necessity of externalizing a buried imagination to find stability.
