Du Cercle Aux Carrés, Hauts-Reliefs Situés Et In Situ
The exhibition "Du cercle aux carrés, hauts-reliefs situés et in situ" at Mennour, Paris, features new works by Daniel Buren. These pieces combine mirrors, a random selection of colours from an industrial palette, and Buren's signature vertical stripes. The works are described as being between flat and relief, painting and sculpture, with situated pieces featuring brightly coloured solids arranged on circular, mirrored surfaces. The stripes are applied to the sides of prisms and reflected.
In situ works have been created for the final room, responding to the natural light from the skylights. One installation, titled "Une fois j’te vois, une fois non, travail in situ," uses stacked prisms. Another features three-dimensional parallelepipeds made of Dibond aluminum. The reflective surfaces and the arrangement of works create a dynamic visual experience, with perspectives and viewpoints constantly shifting as viewers move through the space.
