Claude Viallat
From June 25 to July 25, Claude Viallat presents a collection of about ten works at the Ceysson & Bénétière gallery in Paris. These works focus on form, folding, and imprinting, utilizing fluid and permeable media where paint and color manipulate form through the capillarity of fabrics. The artist's practice, first expressed in 1974, has evolved over six decades, now incorporating the imprint of recycled materials like rags and armchair pieces to create new forms and spaces of expression.
The exhibition showcases a rigorous approach and continuous exploration of the artist's practice and its limits. The canvas functions as a surface for working with other media, with pieces later separated to observe the final result. Despite sixty years of practice, Viallat continues to break new ground, demonstrating a youthful approach to his work in this new exhibition at the Parisian gallery.
