Claude Viallat

Templon Brussels presents an exhibition of recent works by Claude Viallat, including paintings and objects, marking the 60th anniversary of his signature motif. The exhibition features approximately thirty experimental canvases created between 2024 and 2026, alongside objects initiated in 1969. Viallat, a founding member of the Supports/Surfaces group, is known for his repetitive use of a bone-shaped mark on various fabrics and tarpaulins, exploring the deconstruction of traditional painting.

The works on display emphasize an open-ended, experiment-driven approach, with canvases treated as fragments of a larger, continuous pictorial space.
