Eternal Passing
The exhibition Eternal Passing, on view at Belgian Gallery, Brussels, explores the oxymoronic relationship between eternity and time. Artists Camille Dufour and Béatrice le Hodey interpret this theme through distinct practices.
Dufour's work addresses environmental threats and the impermanence of the natural world. Using natural pigments and petals in her prints, canvases, and fabrics, she explores disappearance and denounces the collapse of ecosystems. Her piece "Thwaites" uses melting glaciers as a metaphor, with water actively dissolving and transforming the prints during performances, blurring the lines between painting and printmaking.
In contrast, le Hodey focuses on anchoring oneself in the present. Her oil and acrylic landscapes, drawn from memory and imagination, evoke the essence of things through instinctive organic forms and dreamlike, "fauvist" colors. These works create enveloping poetic horizons that invite viewers into a sensitive, affective space, exploring a desire for transcendence.
