Bells

Brett Goodroad's exhibition "Bells" is presented across three storefront galleries at Crèvecœur Beaune, Paris. The artist, who previously drove trucks hauling organic produce across the American Southwest and later lived in the Arizona desert, draws inspiration from his experiences. His paintings are described as landscapes where the mind and earth are animate, with surfaces that appear to depict motion and textures that reveal the raw support, suggesting themes of mortality.

The works feature a range of subjects, including viceroys, kings, serfs, clowns, faceless heads, and headless faces, with clothing made from lichen and cliffs resembling waves. Some paintings are untitled, while others bear titles such as "Kiss." This exhibition marks Goodroad's first showing in Paris, with his work often exploring the idea of change and renewal, and meaning that slides into being, akin to natural events.
