Best Before

The exhibition "Best Before" at Almine Rech Brussels features the work of artist Brent Wadden, running from November 7, 2025, to January 10, 2026. Wadden's practice involves handwoven textiles stretched onto canvas, blurring the lines between painting and craft. The grid of warp and weft serves as a foundation for accumulating color and line, where minor irregularities develop into distinct structures. Each piece embodies a balance of order and disruption, precision and accident, repetition and deviation.

Wadden views weaving not merely as a method of creating fabric but as a process of form production. He pushes materials to their limits, seeking meaning in imperfection and allowing the process to be as significant as the final image. His works are constructed from three panels, each divided into six sections, employing a rigorous structure, a limited palette, and a concentrated motif. This approach, described as exhausting the material and its limits, reveals a deeper necessity and transforms form into force.
