Secret Skins

Secret Skins, on view at Rodolphe Janssen Brussels, brings together artists exploring non-spectacular intimacy and the private body. The exhibition focuses on the nude as a site of tension between desire, vulnerability, and introspection, presenting works that reveal mental atmospheres and traces of the self.

This exhibition features intimate and introspective representations of the human body, moving away from conventional depictions. The artists present fragmented figures that invite psychological interpretation, with interior scenes serving as reflections of mental landscapes shaped by memory and emotion. Desire and sensuality are treated as diffuse and elusive, while the materiality of paint itself becomes a sensitive, visceral element, blurring the lines between body and medium.
