Huberty & Breyne gallery is presenting a comprehensive exhibition of works by Benjamin Bachelier at its Paris Matignon space, on view from June 18 to July 18, 2026. This showcase marks the first time Bachelier’s diverse practice has been brought together, revealing a deep fluid continuity across painting, drawing, and comic book art. The exhibition features original comic book plates from Le Clan des Otori, Oliphant, Smoking, and his upcoming title L'été des oubliés, showcasing his ability to adapt his visual language across varied genres. In these works, Bachelier's energetic inking and deliberate use of color transcend traditional storytelling, allowing each panel to exist as an autonomous aesthetic surface.

This graphic intensity extends seamlessly into his unframed canvases and raw drawings, both in color and black-and-white. Free from narrative constraints, his large-scale paintings evolve through layered compositions where fluid, shifting figures interact within dense, evocative color fields rooted in nature and animalism. Meanwhile, his drawings plunge viewers into an eclectic universe filled with references to pop culture, music, and surreal human-animal hybrids. Ultimately, the exhibition demonstrates that whether Bachelier is working on a sequential comic book layout or a standalone painting, his artistic output is driven by the exact same rigorous, demanding, and contemporary pictorial gesture.
