Works
Whitehouse Gallery in Brussels presents a group exhibition featuring the works of Ara Méndez Murillo, Mina Enowaki, and Nancy Moreno. Although all three artists graduated from La Cambre in Brussels, their distinct artistic practices create a dynamic dialogue. Each artist's background influences their choices and methods, with personal experiences and interests forming the basis for recurring themes, media, and styles. The exhibition offers a look into their current artistic stages, reflecting processes of negotiation, doubt, experimentation, and confidence.
Murillo's paintings extract symbolism from everyday scenes, conveyed through vibrant colors and playful compositions. Enowaki's multidisciplinary practice, rooted in her dual French-Japanese heritage, combines photography, painting, sculpture, and textiles, with bronze sculptures inspired by Japanese gardens and folklore. Moreno's paintings, built through translucent layers of oil paint and resin, explore lived experiences, dreams, and symbolic motifs, creating luminous, layered images.
