As you wish

From February 5 to 14, 2026, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and visual artist Steven Fillet present "As you wish" at Xavier Hufkens St-Georges, Brussels. This exhibition, the first in a series of collaborations between the artists, features collaborative paintings and works on paper. The title is inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations BWV 988, which provides a conceptual framework for the project, reflecting the intertwined rhythms and structures of the artists' lives and work.

The exhibition explores the relationship between dance and visual art through geometry, repetition, and differentiation. De Keersmaeker's twelve canvases are derived from dance floor geometries, presenting lines as chromatic trajectories. Fillet's work introduces a sense of instability and freedom within forms. The collaboration shifts geometry from a closed system to an open field, examining the transition from horizontal action to vertical representation and contemplation. Small drawings displayed in the basement are described as an intimate, bodily form of thinking, acting as a companion score to Bach's variations.
