Ali Banisadr Talisman

Thaddaeus Ropac Paris Marais presents Talisman, an exhibition of new works by Ali Banisadr. The show features paintings, sculpture, and pastels, bringing together Banisadr's characteristic densely orchestrated pictorial worlds, archetypal figures, symbolic fragments, and charged objects.

Talisman unfolds in dialogue with the work of French Symbolist master Gustave Moreau, a key reference for this new body of work. Banisadr conceives imagery as talismans, distilling ideas through an intuitive sketchbook process into compact visual representations. These emblem-like figures act as shorthand for narratives, recalling Symbolist semiotics. The exhibition extends Banisadr's investigation into the migration of imagery across cultures and art historical periods, incorporating increasingly architectonic compositional structures and exploring themes of illusion and concealment.
